Stainless Steel 904l pipes are made with the best in class raw materials using the latest technology. This alloy is fabricated with two key components of chromium and nickel. Where the ‘L' in 904L denotes lower carbon content which provides better welding properties with a resistance to carbide precipitation during the process. The addition of chrome or chromium helps the metal to resist oxidation and other corrosion, acting as a skin to the base iron. While the other chemical components include chromium, nickel, manganese, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, and molybdenum which adds value to the overall metal with enhanced anti-corrosive elements. It also improves its workability in wet conditions and protects the metal from various aqueous corrosions. While the low carbon content protects the alloy from intergranular corrosion.

Along with the improved chemical composition, the 904l grade also has good mechanical components. It possesses a minimum tensile strength of 490 MPa and basic yield strength of 220 MPa. Additionally, it also has a Rockwell B hardness score of 70 to 90. Due to which the metal has longer durability and better usage in various environmental conditions. The alloy is good at handling sulfuric and phosphoric acids but can fall for stress corrosion cracking in extremely high temperatures.
