ASTM A335 Grade P22 is also commonly known as ASME SA335 Grade P22 Pipes. They are chrome-moly alloy steel pipes that are ferritic. The UNS designation for this grade P22 is K21590.
ASTM A335 Grade P22 Seamless Pipe
ASTM A335 P22 Pipe
P22 Alloy Steel Seamless Pipe
Chromium is the most efficient element for resisting high-temperature oxidation. Additionally, it significantly enhances strength and wear resistance. This makes P22 pipes ideal for use in long-term high-temperature projects like power plants, refineries, petrochemical plants and oilfield services. They are also used in industries such as Pharmaceutical equipment, Chemical equipment, Seawater equipment, Heat exchangers, Condensers, Pulp and paper industry, Off-shore oil drilling companies and Specialty chemicals.
These pipes are highly adaptable and can transport liquids as well as gases. These pipes can be covered with black paint, anti-corrosion oil, or can be provided with galvanized surface treatment as per project requirement. The surface treatment or coating further enhances the pipe’s resistance to corrosion. Along with high tensile strength and high-temperature resistance this alloy is also known for its high corrosion resistance and cost-efficiency.
ASTM A335 P22 pipes have high weldability and ductility making it ideal for operations that consist if bending, flanging or vastoning. These pipes have a minimum tensile strength of 415 MPA and minimum yield strength of 205 MPA. The elongation percentage of the pipe is about 30%.
